Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association secretary and vice-president Rajiv Shukla on Thursday ruled out Kanpur hosting any IPL matches, which put the spotlight on Greater Noida as a venue for the next IPL season. Kanpur has its Green Park sadium, but because it lacks in most other infrastructure, it cannot be the choice for IPL matches.

Greater Noida has been on the IPL radar for some time now after the city successfully hosted the country's first Formula One event. The Jaypee stadium is coming up close to the Buddh International Circuit, the venue for the first Indian Grand Prix held in October 2011.
